TIRUCHY: An argument between a lorry driver and bus driver resulted in a gruesome murder, with the former crushing the latter under the wheels in a fit of rage.The incident occurred at Kattur on the outskirts of the city in the wee hours of Saturday in the presence of shocked bus passengers.Lorry driver Mohamad Kasim (29) had used abusive language against bus driver A Sundar Rajan (44) while overtaking the bus.According to the passengers, Kasim repeatedly abused Sundar Rajan and warned him of dire consequences even after he gave way for the lorry.Soon, the bus driver began chasing the lorry and caught up with the vehicle at Kattur. He got down from the bus, blocked the lorry and asked Kasim to get down from his vehicle.Kasim, who refused to get down, threatened to run him over if he did not move out of his way. When the bus driver challenged the lorry driver to carry out his threat, Kasim, in a fit of rage, moved the lorry forward.Sundar Rajan, who did not move, was crushed by the wheels of the lorry.The shocked passengers screamed and ran towards the lorry. However, Kasim drove away. Later, he was arrested by the police near Thuvakudi toll gate.On information, Tiruverumbur police rushed to the spot and retrieved the body. Further investigations are on.Sunder Rajan, a resident of airport area, was driving towards Nedunkulathur in Thuvakudi from Chathiram bus stand. The lorry driver belongs to Kumbakonam in Thanjavur.
