New Delhi: Lok Sabha has passed the Parliament (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Bill, 2006 on Monday night.
The Bill, popularly known as the Office of Profit Bill, was passed with 230 votes in favour and 71 against and will help save the membership of over 40 members including some Union Ministers and seeks to exempt about 56 posts.
President APJ Abdul Kalam returned the Bill on May 25 for reconsideration.
However, on July 27 Rajya Sabha passed the Bill with 98 members voting in its favour and 49 against.
