New Delhi: Director Sujoy Ghosh of 'Kahaani' fame will play legendary Bengali detective Byomkesh Bakshi in director Rituparno Ghosh's next. It's not clear yet who will play Ajit, the detective's friend and sidekick.
"Nice to know that @sujoy_g will play legendary detective Byomkesh Bakshi in Rituporno's next film. I think its a canny choice," tweeted Pritish Nandy on Thursday.
Sujoy confirmed the news saying that the story that Rituparno selected for the film is 'Chorabali', one of many thrilling tales about the Bengali detective from author Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's repertoire.
The Byomkesh stories were serialized in the magazine Basumati, the first being 'Byomkesher Diary'. There are 33 stories featuring the quintessential Bengali detective. Actor Rajit Kapoor played the character brilliantly in television series.
