'It Speaks to You': Sculpture Selection Process Done, Idol Reflecting 5-Yr-Old Ram Lalla Chosen

The selection process for the idol of Lord Ram Lalla has been completed and the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the unanimously selected idol is scheduled for the upcoming month, said the trustee of Ram Janmbhoomi Teertha Kshetra, Bimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra.

The meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi trust was held on Friday to conduct the voting process for deciding the idol of Lord Ram Lalla, which will be installed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the grand temple next month.

Speaking of the development, Mishra said on Friday, “Today’s (trust) meeting was regarding the selection of the idol for the Ram temple and the process has been completed.”

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra is the trust entrusted with the construction and management of Ayodhya’s grand Ram Temple.

On being asked about the parameters of the idol selection process, Bimlendra said that the idol speaks to you, as once you see it, you get mesmerised by it.

Talking about the idol of Ram Lalla, secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai said, “Even if multiple idols are placed together, the eyes will get fixated on the one that will be the best. And the coincidence was such that I liked an idol and gave my vote for it. Champat Rai will decide further. There was a voting system and we gave our preferences. The idol selected unanimously will be brought for Pran Pratishtha.”

The pran-pratishtha or consecration ceremony of the Lord Ram Lalla at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is set to take place at 12:20 pm on January 22, 2024. The auspicious event will be held at the garbha griha (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple, where the idol depicting the 5-year-old child form of Lord Ram will be housed.

Following the consecration ceremony, darshan of Ram Lalla will be opened for the devotees. The garbha griha holds paramount significance as it serves as the abode of the presiding deity of the temple. The Ram Temple in Ayodhya is going to get a spectacular sanctum sanctorum, which will also be one of the largest in the world.
