HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has taken up feasibility studies for interlinking Krishna, Manjeera and Osmansagar systems for better water supply to the tail-end areas in the city.It has entrusted the job to M/s TCE Consulting Engineers Limited. The study will examine the possibility of diverting Krishna water to the highly water stressed peripheral municipal zones where drinking water is supplied once in three or four days or twice a week.Speaking to City Express, Water Board officials said leaking pipes, vulnerable transmission mains and diversion of Krishna water to Singur and Manjeera systems to meet any contingency in case of failure at Singur and Manjeera systems will be examined. The consultant will also study the possibility of diversion of Godavari waters. Officials said TCE was chosen to carry out the studies as it has a good understanding of the issue. The HMWS&SB will supply pipeline and operational data required for modelling.Existing transmission system will be simulated in a computer network model and then the system will be checked for augmentation flow and visual conditional assessment of pipeline and leakage areas. Based on the hydraulic analysis, various works, viz pipeline, interconnection etc, will be quantified and listed.Details of MBRs of Godavari Phase-I and Krishna Phase-III will be supplied by the Water Board. Similarly, it will also provide present and future demand of the peripheral municipal zones under consideration.
