KUMILY: It was a peaceful day in Idukki as no incidents of violence were reported from any parts of Idukki district on Thursday. At Gudalur check post, the Tamil Nadu police stopped and dispersed the agitators who were proceeding to Kumily from Theni in motorbikes. The traffic through the check post will be resumed depending on the situation in Tamil Nadu. A police team led by an IG and Theni SP is monitoring the situation in Theni district. In Kumily, life is returning to normal. The shops and restaurants have started functioning. “No violence has been reported from any parts of the district. The police and the India Reserve Battalion personnel are guarding the border regions of the district. The prohibitory order, which is to end on Friday, will be lifted only after the situation becomes normal in Tamil Nadu” Idukki police chief George Varghese said.The vehicular movement on both sides of the check post is yet to resume as protest marches are being held in Theni district. The SPs of Idukki and Theni districts will discuss the situation before resuming the traffic by next day.
