New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday said Hindus cannot wait "till eternity" for the court's decision on Ram Temple and asserted that the only way forward is to enact a legislation for its construction.
The VHP reaction came a day after Prime Minister, in his interview to ANI, said that an ordinance to aid the construction of a Ram temple was possible only after the legal process was dealt with.
“The VHP, considering the overall situation, continues to be of the firm view that the Hindu society cannot be expected to wait till eternity for a court decision,” VHP international working president Alok Kumar said.
Highlighting the tardy judicial process, Kumar said that the matter is now listed for hearing on January 4. “Not before the appropriate bench but again in the Chief Justice’s Court,” he said.
He added, “The appropriate bench has not been constituted. The formalities in some appeals are yet pending. The hearing may take more time.” In this context, he added,
"The only appropriate way forward is to enact a legislation clearing the way for the construction of a grand Ram Temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi now."
Referring to the meeting of saints in Dharam Sansad during the upcoming Kumbh Mela, Kumar said, “We will prepare the road map to take forward our demand. Further steps will be decided by the saints during the gathering."
Modi's comments on Tuesday had come amidst heightened demands by Hindutva organisations, including the RSS, for an ordinance for an early construction of the temple in Ayodhya.
