Hike can be rolled back: MK

CHENNAI:  Blaming Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa of taxing the people to the tune of Rs 4,000 crore, DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Friday said the increased bus fares and milk prices could be brought down if she wished to do so. “Tearing the hearts of the people who voted her to power, she (Jayalalithaa) had increased bus fares and milk prices,” the DMK leader observed. “Milk price went up by Rs 6.25 at one go and not in a phased manner,” he added. “Several fuel price hikes occurred when the DMK was in power. But we kept a tab on both the bus fare and milk price to ensure people were not overburdened,” Karunanidhi said.
