HAL engineer studying in IIT-M found dead

CHENNAI: In yet another case of suicide at IIT-M — the second in three months — B Gowrishankar (36), an engineer of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), pursuing an M Tech course in the institute under company   sponsorship, was found dead in his hostel room in Guindy on Wednesday. While he is suspected to have consumed poison, police are yet to ascertain the motive.At 2.30 pm, Gowrishankar, an inmate of Cauvery hostel, was found in his room (no 372) lying lifeless, foaming at the mouth and covered in vomit, said Investigating Officer B Jeyasankar.Gowrishankar worked as  a Grade 4 engineer (executive) at HAL, Bangalore, for the past five years. “On a company-sanctioned sponsorship, he joined a two-year M Tech course in mechanical engineering at IIT-M and was in his final year,” the inspector said. The police have recovered his laptop and sent it to the cyber-crime cell for investigation.
