Government moves ahead with merger of AUTs

TIRUCHY: Steps have been initiated for the merger of five Anna University of Technology with the Anna University, as indicated by the directions issued to AUT by the monitoring committee.The  committee has asked the Registrar of the Anna University of Technology here not to make payment relating to capital expenditure, according to sources.The AUT had been asked to confine their expenditure only to payment of salary, recurring contingency expenditure, and utility bills like water, electricity, phone charges, taxes and duties. The AUTs were asked to freeze all types of bank deposits with immediate effect and furnish details of all the bank accounts.The Registrars were asked informed that directions would come into effect forthwith and were told to follow the directions scrupulously.
