GHMC awards for five residential colonies

HYDERAABD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation presented five awards to the best Residential Welfare Associations, one in each zone, for proper maintenance and cleanliness measures.Outgoing mayor Banda Karthika Reddy and GHMC commissioner MT Krishna Babu praised the participation of the resident associations in curbing ban on plastic and involving in maintaining sanitation, greenery in parks. Karthika Reddy further stated that nearly 1,300 colonies will participate in improving the city in the near future.The following colonies have been selected as Best Colonies: Armed Forces Officers' Cooperative Housing Society Ltd in East Zone, Vinayanagar Cooperative Housing Society Limited (South Zone), Shanthinagar Club Welfare Association (Central Zone), My Home Navadweepa Apartment Owners Welfare Association (West Zone) and Umanagar Residents Welfare Association (North Zone). The commissioner lauded the services rendered by the RWAs for upkeep of civic affairs.Krishna Babu while interacting with RWA representatives said those colonies who are paying 100 per cent property tax will be taken into consideration for selecting the best colony next year. He also informed that Rs 15 lakh prize money won by the best colonies will be spent for construction of community halls, roads and parks.While speaking about the best hotels selected, the commissioner said the city's image will be best projected to visitors by good maintenance of the hotels. The following hotels have been selected as best hotels: Taj Falaknuma Hotel, West Inn Hotel, ITC Kakatiya and Park Hotel.
