Getting a Visa Through These 39 Fake Travel Agents in Noida, Ghaziabad Could Get You Arrested

Travellers from Noida and Ghaziabad should exercise caution if they have arranged visas or tickets through certain local travel agents. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has identified 39 fraudulent travel agencies and agents operating in these areas, who are deceiving people under the guise of sending them abroad.

The scam involves promising overseas job opportunities and charging exorbitant fees, only to provide fake visas. During the investigation by the Bureau of Immigration at the airport, the passengers who arrive with fake visas have been arrested. In recent months, the Ministry has received 33 such complaints.

As of June 2024, approximately 33 complaints were submitted to the Ministry of External Affairs by airport authorities. Upon investigation, 39 travel agencies or agents from Ghaziabad and Noida were found to be involved in these fraudulent activities. The list includes 9 agents from Ghaziabad and 30 from Noida.

The Ministry has publically listed these fraudulent agents on the eMigrate portal to prevent further scams.
