Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Babu Lal Gaur seems to have finally got a line of defence against Shagufta Kabir who had been accusing him of misconduct.
A desperate Shagufta Kabir, on Wednesday, handed over a letter to the BJP, stating she wanted to be a minister of state.
"A lot has been said in the past two three days and this has harmed my reputation so I should be accorded a Minister of State status," Shagufta reasoned.
Accompanied by women's activist Vijaya Pathak, Shagufta did the rounds of the state BJP headquarters and visited the residence of BJP president Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan.
BJP's top brass, however, chose not to entertain her.
Shagufta then approached the leader of Opposition in the state Vidhan Sabha, Jamuna Devi, who demanded Gaur's resignation.
"Such serious allegations against a chief minister have been made for the first time, this lady deserves a fair deal and on moral grounds Gaur should immediately step down," Devi said.
Despite the fact that Gaur's political managers are working overtime, Shagufta's demands are unlikely to be met and politics in the state is likely to degrade further in the days to come.
