KOCHI: The police on Wednesday detained evangelist and preacher William Lee who was here to conduct a musical convention at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kaloor, for violating visa norms. William Lee, an American citizen, was prohibited from addressing any public gathering in India. He was conducting the musical convention ‘Music Splash’ organised by Faith Leaders Church of God, a Christian congregation.According to Assistant Commissioner Sunil Jacob, William Lee was taken into custody after the alert issued by the Central Intelligence Bureau. The convention was interrupted mid-way and William Lee left for the hotel where he was staying since Tuesday. He was detained by the Palarivattom sub-inspector at the hotel and he will be deported by Thursday, he added.
