Endosulfan ban not yet implemented

PUDUCHERRY: Despite the Supreme Court imposing a two-month countrywide interim ban on the production, sale and use of the controversial pesticide, endosulfan, the order is yet to be implemented in Puducherry.A Veeraghavan, representing the media cell of the Puducherry Congress, has petitioned the chief secretary and secretary agriculture for implementation of the ban in view of threat that endosulfan poses to human life. Citing the action being taken in the neighbouring Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, he urged the officials to take the necessary steps in this regard.
