KOCHI: Following the blasts in Delhi on Wednesday, security alerts have been sounded in cities across the state with the police personnel keeping a close watch on any suspicious movement or persons by carrying out elaborate searches and checks. Given the Onam celebration in the state, the police are being cautious and pulling all stops to ensure nothing untoward happens.      In Kochi, a tight security apparatus has been put in place. Senior officials have been monitoring the security scenario with spot checking. The High court premises were packed with policemen on Wednesday morning.City Police Commissioner, M R Ajith Kumar said that a red alert has been issued  with police personnel being deployed at public places like malls, cinema halls, parks,popular hangouts and railway stations. Ditto with all government offices. "More than 2000 policemen have been placed in various parts of city. The anti sabotage squad has already been alerted so that a similar incident does not occur in Kochi. Bomb squads are being deployed at railway stations and other public places. The Shadow police have already been active in wake of the Onam rush and following the bomb blast, have been further asked to intensify checking. The police have been moving in mufti and maintaining a strict vigil. “There is every likelihood of peace getting disrupted around this time. It could mean grave danger to human life, and destruction of  public property. So we taking no chances” Kumar said.
