Dravid has overtaken Graham Gooch to be placed sixth in the all-time list of leading run getters in Test cricket.

Kingston (Jamaica) Indian captain Rahul Dravid has overtaken England's Graham Gooch to be placed sixth in the all-time list of leading run getters in Test cricket.

Dravid surpassed Gooch's tally of 8,900 runs from 118 Tests during his knock of 81 in India's first innings on the opening day of the fourth and final Test against West Indies.

'The Wall' currently has 8,981 runs from 104 Tests at an average of 58.70.

Dravid also placed himself on the top of the list of run getters for 2006. He currently has 978 runs, including three centuries and six 50s, from 10

Tests at an average of 75.23 this year.

With his 81, his 45th Test 50, Dravid took his career average as captain to 50 - 1225 runs in 29 innings with three centuries.

It was only apt that Dravid achieved the feat in what was India's 400th Test match. The country thus became the fourth in the world to achieve the distinction. England tops the table with 848 Tests, followed by Australia (682), West Indies (433) and India (400).

For opener Virender Sehwag, it was his eighth duck in Tests and his first against the West Indies. He has now 4 ducks each at home and away.

Sehwag had recorded three ducks in 10 Tests in the first six months this year - the most ducks registered by him in a calendar year.

India's total of 200 was the second lowest against West Indies in nine Tests after having made 102 at Bridgetown in 2001-02.

West Indies paceman Jerome Taylor (5/50) produced his career-best bowling figure and his first five-wicket haul. His previous best was 3 for 118 in the recent St. Kitts Test.

Taylor became the first bowler from the West Indies to claim five wickets in an innings in the current series.

Anil Kumble (45) recorded his best overseas score in 54 Tests, bettering his 43 against West Indies in the St. Kitts Test.

Kumble not only completed his 2000 Test runs - 2015 at an average of 17.99 in 110 Tests - but also completed his 5,000 first-class runs - 5,021 at an average of 22.92 in 213 matches.

Having already taken 526 Test wickets at 28.93 runs apiece, Kumble became the second all-rounder in Test annals to have accomplished the double of 2000 runs and 500 wickets.

Shane Warne was the first to achieve this extraordinary double - 2958 runs and 685 wickets in 140 Tests.

Kumble is the second Indian and the 14th all-rounder to accomplish the 'double' of 2000 runs and 200 wickets.

Kapil Dev - 5248 runs and 434 wickets in 131 Tests – was the first to accomplish the feat.

With Mohammad Kaif's catch, Brian Lara took his tally as a fielder to 157. He has now overtaken Australia's Allan Border's tally of 156 catches and has moved into the second place.

Both Mark Taylor (Australia) and Lara share the second spot with 157 catches each. Mark Waugh (Australia) holds the world record, having taken 181 catches.
