BHUBANESWAR: A dip in the performance of the students in the +2 examination this year has prompted the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) to seek a change in question paper format. It will be on the lines of the CBSE.After a thorough analysis of other examination formats across the country, the CHSE found that its format was not scoring for the students. Under the current pattern, 60 pc of the question paper is subjective and 40 pc is objective. “We have decided to change the format to 70 pc objective and 30 pc subjective. This should enable the students to score more,” explained CHSE Chairman Nihar Ranjan Patnaik. The Council also plans to bring in changes in the academic curriculum in tune with the modification in question paper format. The change in the curriculum will be effective from the new academic session. Students appearing for the examination in 2013 will appear under the renewed course format, Patnaik said. The CHSE has also regularised the subject ‘Basic Knowledge in Computer’. The subject will now be included in the examination every year though students used to appear for it once in two years in the past. “This has been done to improve the student’s knowledge over the subject,” he said.
