Congress leaders must ponder over party affairs, especially after the emergence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi which has totally routed the party in the national capital, senior party leader Aslam Sher Khan has said.
"Earlier Congress was considered to be the party of 'aam aadmi' (common man). But, in the last few decades it was no more the case as people with feudal mindset wanted to usurp all important positions in the Congress and in the process not bothered about the fact that it is drifting away from the common people," former Olympian and ex-Union minister Khan said.
"The way things are going it seems the party has not learnt any lessons from the recent defeat," he said.
Aslam said party's top leaders must ponder over the overall party affairs, specially after emergence of AAP in Delhi which has totally routed the Congress in the national capital and given enough indications about the things to be unfolded in future.
The Congress was reduced to 58 during the recent Assembly elections from 71 in 2008. The BJP secured a hat-trick in the polls under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Out of the total 230 seats, BJP emerged victorious on 165 winning 22 more seats than its tally of 143 seats in 2008.
