BHUBANESWAR: The Justice M B Shah Commission, appointed by the Centre on illegal mining in the State, has started its probe. Sources said it had asked the State Government to provide information on certain queries on alleged illegal mining in the State by September 30.The one-man commission maintained in a letter to the Steel and Mines Department that it needs to be provided with the information to proceed further.Though the commission had earlier sought information from the Government by September 19, the Department failed to meet the deadline. It had instead requested for more time till September 30.Like Goa and other places, the commission may undertake a visit to the State and conduct public hearing on the alleged illegal mining, sources said.
