CM opens distribution of grants to madrasas

KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the distribution of grants to madrasas in the state at a function held here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the government has plans to implement comprehensive projects for uplifting educational standards of madrasas. About 547 madrasas will be given financial aid sanctioned by the Central Government for modernisation in the first phase. Oommen Chandy said the government will take necessary steps to provide the grant to more madrasas in the state. Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer, Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb, Mayor A K Premajam, District Panchayat president Kanathil Jameela, MLAs Ummer Master and Purushan Kadalundi also attended the state-level inauguration.
