When we order seafood in restaurants we invariably ask for fish or prawn. Both octopus and squid are very high in protein and low in fat. Oh yes and the taste is definitely acquired and also many find it visually less appealing. Let me initiate you with this simple recipe which calls for baby octopus. Your local seafood vendor will be able to supply you octopus with a day’s notice. Ingredients500 Gms baby octopus2 cloves garlic, chopped2tsps chopped fresh parsley2 small red chillies seeded and finely chopped½ kiwi fruit, peeled and roughly chopped1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil1tsps lemon juiceRock salt to tasteMethod: Clean the octopus thoroughly removing the heads and beaks. Combine the octopus, garlic, parsley, chillies and kiwi fruit in a large bowl. Pour over the oil and lemon juice and toss well. Cover and refrigerate for 3- 4 hours. Preheat an iron grill or heavy based frying pan. Reserving the marinade, remove the octopus and drain well. Arrange the octopus in a single layer on the grill pan and sprinkle with marinade. Cook for 3 minutes over high heat, toss and then cook for a further 3 minutes until the octopus is cooked. Sprinkle lightly with fine rock salt. This seafood dish will give you plenty of iron and  vitamins and is also light to eat.
