HYDERABAD: The CBI finally relented in court Thursday and agreed to provide Jagan wealth case defendent access to crucial documents unearthed by the investigating agency. The special CBI court hearing Vijay Sai Reddy’s bail petition was enlivened Thursday by a heated exchange between Vijay Sai Reddy’s counsel and his CBI counterpart. His lawyer Sushil Kumar took issue with CBI counsel Keshava Rao for making a reference to some documents that had not been given to defence.Arguing his client’s claim to bail, Sushil Kumar made a four-hour submission. When he yielded the floor to Keshava Rao, the latter tried to make a reference to three documents -- two witness statements and one an income tax report. But Sushil Kumar interjected that since the documents had not been provided to him officially, they could not be included in the argumentation. When the CBI attorney countered that copiies could be had by filing a petition, Sushil Kumar argued that when he had done so, it was firmly opposed by the CBI. ``You can’t use those documents if you don’t give them to us. I am the accused, I need every document,” he said.Judge Nagamaruthi Sarma asked the CBI counsel what was wrong in giving copies of the documents to the defence counsel. The CBI counsel insisted that defence could apply for the copies through the court, but finally relented and promised that the paper would be furnished by evening. The judge posted the bail hearing to Friday.
