Following the exhortation of the SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan, the Kerala Brahamana Sabha has decided to support the Hindu unity move floated by the SNDP and the NSS.
In his inaugural address at the representatives’ session of the Kerala Brahmana Sabha’s 42nd state conference here on Sunday morning, Vellappally said, “Unity of the Hindu communities is the need of the hour. The minority communities which win the elections with the support of the majority community become selfish after they get power. The idea of the Hindu League was put forward following the exploitation of the communal forces in the state in the name of religion. The wealthy people in some of the communities were amassing wealth and power in the name of religion.’’
Vellappally said, “The Hindu League will be a united forum of the Hindu communities. The aim of the League will be to attain the rights granted by the Constitution of India. So all Hindu communities should join hands for the unity. The general council of the SNDP has agreed to go ahead with the League proposal.’’
In the reply speech, Kerala Brahmana Sabha state president V Ramalingam said that the KBS would extend support to the Hindu unity move floated by the SNDP and the NSS. The unity of the Hindu communities is a need in the present scenario. “So the KBS has taken a decision in principle to join the unity move. The future plan will be decided at the state committee meetings of the KBS,’’ he said. The KBS leaders who attended the 42nd state meet said that the future course of action will be decided later.
