BANGALORE: “From a management which found it derogatory to talk to us back in the 1960s we have managed to get them to listen to us. Today, sadly, the conditions have come a full circle. All organisations must come together and chalk out a strategy to fight for rights,” said T N Goel, President of the All India State Bank Officers Federation. He was speaking at a general body meeting of the SBI Officers Association, Karnataka Circle, held to felicitate G Muthuswamy, Union leader who is retiring on March 31.Praising his many achievements in salary revision and other fields, G D Nadaf, General Secretary of All India State Bank Officers’ Federation (AISBOF) said, “Because of his good relations with vigilance departments and management, he has saved many officers from wrongful dismissal. Most people do not know this side of Muthuswamy.”Calling the management of the bank ‘ungrateful’ for being absent for the programme, Nadaf said that both AISBOF and SBIOA would meet in the few days and decide on a course of action to fight continual ignorance by management.Leaders of various Unions like the State Bank of India Pensioners Association, Staff Association and various state leaders of the Officers Associations from around the country were present to honour Muthuswamy.A respected leader, Muthuswamy has been called the ‘super computer’ behind every wage revision and the architect of the 9th bipartite salary settlement.
