Badminton: Chen Long wins men's final at Japan Open
While Wang Yihan outplayed Germany's Julian Schenk to take top honours in the women's category.

Tokyo: China's Chen Long and Wang Yihan won the men's and women's singles title at the Japan Open Superseries badminton event here on Sunday.

Chen downed World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia 21-8, 10-21, 21-19 in a gruelling men's final lasting 73 minutes.

Top seed Wang outplayed Germany's Julian Schenk 21-16, 21-14 to take top honours in the women's category.

Schenk had beaten India's Saina Nehwal in the semifinals on Saturday.

Men's singles final: 4-Chen Long (China) bt 1-Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) 21-8, 10-21, 21-19

Women's singles final: 1-Wang Yihan (China) bt 8-Juliane Schenk (Germany), 21-16, 21-14

Women's doubles final: Bao Yixin/Zhong Qianxin (China) bt 5-Cheng Wen-Hsing/Chien Yu-Chin (Chinese Taipei) 13-21, 25-23, 21-12

Men's doubles final: Yun Cai/Haifeng Fu (China) bt Mohammad Ahsan/Bona Septano (Indonesia) 21-13, 23-21.

Mixed doubles final: Hung Lin Chen/Wen Hsing Cheng (Chinese Taipei) bt Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christina Pedersen (Denmark) 21-19, 16-21, 21-15.
