Kochi: Frequent strikes and trade unions in Kerala discourage foreign investors from coming to the state, Austria’s Ambassador to India has aid.
Austria wanted to partner with Kerala in Ayurveda, tourism and renewable energy but potential investors had got ‘wrong signals’, said Jutta Stefan-Bastl at the 26th annual management convention of the Kerala Management Association in Kochi on Thursday.
Kerala does not have the most viable business environment, PTI quoted Stefan-Bastl as saying. Strikes, like the one organised by the CPI (ML) on Thursday, prevented Kerala from being favoured by Austrian businessmen.
Austria specialised in manufacturing and was interested in transfer of technology, she said. Kerala has good human development parameters and literacy rate. Most of the GDP is invested by Kerala in health and education, she said.
