WARANGAL: Police on Friday registered cases in connection with the attack on the commandant, assistant commandant and two others by APSP 4th battalion cops at Mamunur near here. Mamunur DSP Venkateswara Rao said that investigation has been taken up to identify the accused.He said that cases were registered for attacking the seniors and vandalising their houses.Two days ago (October 5), constable M Sampath (35) died on the spot while two others suffered minor injuries during demolition of an old building on the 4th battalion camp premises.Irked at the incident, some cops went berserk and attacked the houses of commandant Sunil Kumar Naik, assistant commandant Anil Kumar Naik, reserve inspector Srinivasa Reddy, a junior assistant and even hit them.Further, they brought out the furniture from the houses and set it ablaze. With civil police failing to bring the situation under control, the Mamunur DSP and SP Rajesh Kumar rushed to the place with additional forces.On information, APSP DGP Jayachandra too reached Mamunur and enquired about the episode.The constables alleged that the commandant and the assistant commandant, instead of hiring workers for demolition of the building, forced them to do the job.They also alleged that the commandant shifted the wood from the demolished building to Hyderabad where his house was being built. But the APSP officials said that attacks in the uniform department were not good.Working on the campus for one day in a week is compulsory for all uniform departments, they said.
