KOCHI: The students of Amsterdam and Rajagiri College presented a workshop on effective waste management at the Chamber Hall here on Thursday. The programme was organised by the Rajagiri College and the Kerala Chamber of Commerce.In the programme, the students gave a Power Point presentation to make waste management efficient in the city.  The students from University of Amsterdam, Mariji Duijin, Paul Van Kakem and Stijin Barterlink put forward a three-tier method to make the city clean.  The students suggested holding awareness programmes, waste collection and proper processing can make the waste management in the city more efficient.The students also made a comparative study of waste management in Amsterdam city, Pune and Kochi.They suggested the Amsterdam model waste  management solved the perils of waste management of the city.They also stated that a clean city concept can be realised with effective treatment of the disposed materials.Deepak Aswani, chairman of Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that lack of proper waste management is the biggest crisis in the city.A proper channel and waste management strategy must be constituted to make the city clean, he said.
