Actor death case: Police carries out searches at Kalabhavan Mani's outhouse
The investigation team recovered some chemicals during their search at 'padi', the outhouse, police sources said.

Chalakudy (Kerala): Police on Saturday searched the outhouse of late south Indian actor Kalabhavan Mani and collected evidence, a day after the chemical examination report confirmed the presence of highly poisonous insecticide in his viscera samples.

The investigation team recovered some chemicals during their search at 'padi', the outhouse, police sources said.

It would be sent for chemical examination to confirm whether it was 'Chlorpyrifos', the insecticide which was found in the actor's body as per the report.

Police said the interrogation of four of his aides, who are already in police custody, is continuing in the wake of the latest developments. However, they refused to divulge further details in this regard.

The chemical examination report by the Regional Chemical Examiner's Laboratory in Kochi showed presence of Chlorpyrifos in Mani's body. The report confirmed the presence of methyl and ethyl alcohol contents also in the actor's samples.

Mani's family members including wife Nimmi and brother RLV Ramakrishnan voiced suspicion about the involvement of the his friends and aides in his mysterious death.

Ramakrishnan had said he feared that his brother's friends could have allegedly given him liquor and a case for murder should be registered and probe ordered against those who were with the actor during the last moments at his Chalakudy outhouse.

In the wake of the new developments, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had said that the government was prepared to order a high level inquiry if the family wished so.

45-year-old Mani, who had carved a niche for himself in the Malayalam and Tamil film industry, was undergoing treatment for liver and kidney diseases at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences for some time when he died on March 6.

Police had registered a case of unnatural death after AIMS doctors informed them that traces of methyl alcohol were found in his blood.
