CHENNAI: The extensive waterlogging in the city left many residents exasperated. “This is a failure in management by traffic and civic authorities. Many villages do a better job with fewer resources,” an irate  commuter said. Many vented their anger on the Chennai City Traffic Police’s Facebook page. Residents reported that there were numerous accidents at Koyambedu and the deplorable condition at Thirumangalam junction. However, for some, it was actually fun. Perungudi residents got to go on fishing expeditions in the flood waters while children in Velachery were seen floating around on makeshift boats. Among the worst hit areas were Arumbakkam where water overflowed from the Cooum. The Thillai Ganga Nagar subway was completely flooded, forcing residents to find alternative routes. Residents of Mudichur near Tambaram could not venture past Krishna Nagar on Mudichur Road, and had to take a long route through Perungalathur.
