Seven students of Class XII allegedly ragged their juniors.

Solan (Himachal Pradesh): Barely a month after an MBBS student, Aman Kachroo died allegedly due to ragging in Himachal Pradesh, seven students of a prestigious school in the state allegedly ragged their juniors.

The students have been sent home but the institution denying the allegations says they have been punished for ‘manhandling’ the pupils.

Ten to 15 students of standard X of Lawrence School at Sanawar, some 18-km from Solan, were allegedly ragged by their seniors of Class XII, school sources said.

The incident happened on Monday night, they added.

When the school authorities came to know about it, they set up a three-member disciplinary committee to look into the matter.

As the committee found the incident genuine, guilty students were sent back home yesterday, the sources said.

Headmaster Praveen Vashist said it was a case of ‘manhandling’ for which the guilty students were sent home.

He, however, refused to say that they had been rusticated but affirmed they would not be allowed to return to the school.
