Three persons died and two injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a private bus near Kuttippuram overbridge on the Kozhikode-Thrissur route on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are Sumeera, 22, daughter of Kozhikode Atholi native Koovalathuttil Subramanyan, his friend Krishnankutty, 50, and the car driver Balakrishnan, 50.
Summera’s father Subramanyan and mother Padmavathy have been admitted to a private hospital at Edappal with injuries.
Those who met the accident were on the route to Guruvayur from Atholi.
As per the primary investigation of the police, the negligence of the car driver caused the accident.
The car was over-speeding when it rammed the bus.
The accident occurred at 8.
15 am on Tuesday.
The bus was coming from Guruvayur to Kozhikode.
Summera and Balakrishnan died on the spot.
Krishnankutty died at a hospital at Valanchery.
The local people took out the injured persons after breaking open the car.
A bike rider was also injured in another accident at the same time.
His bike collided with another vehicle which applied sudden brake after seeing the car accident.
Traffic on the National Highway was blocked for almost 45 minutes following the accident.
The local people are used to seeing several accidents in the area.
The dangerous curve and slippery road has taken 8 lives near the overbridge in the past four years.
The bodies have been shifted to Atholi after completing the postmortem examination at Tirur Government Hospital on Tuesday
