Srinagar: Three days after Pakistan threat, construction work at a model village project in Keran sector near the Line of Control has resumed on Friday. Two days after the disruption, labourers, contractors and machines are back at the site.

CNN-IBN has reported on how Pakistani soldiers came near the river Kishenganga which divides the LoC and threatened contractor and labourers, forcing them to stop work on tourist facility being built over there. Pakistan is no longer objecting to the construction. Community leaders had appealed to the Centre to intervene.

Pakistani troops had on Wednesday forced Indian authorities to end construction work as they claimed that it was in the violation of the 2003 ceasefire agreement.

The state government sources had said that the local authorities stopped the construction work after Pakistani troops had threatened saying if construction was not stopped they would not be responsible for the consequences. "Two men, one in uniform and another in civil dress holding a white flag shouted at workers on the construction site to stop work. They were across the Kishanganga river, which divides the LoC, and did not come into this side," government sources had said.

The government sources had also added that such issues have come up in the past too and will be sorted through meetings.

The 2003 ceasefire is based on an unwritten agreement that no party will undertake construction activity along the border.

This was the first time that Pakistan has raised objections about India's civilian construction activities on this side of the Line of Control, since the ceasefire.
