1979 batch IPS officer Krishna Choudhary appointed as new DG ITBP
Senior IPS officer Krishna Choudhary has been appointed as the new chief of border guarding force Indo-Tibetan Border Police.

New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Krishna Choudhary has been appointed as the new chief of border guarding force Indo-Tibetan Border Police.

The 1979-batch Bihar cadre officer is presently working as the Director General of the Railway Protection Force under the Railway Ministry.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued orders for appointment of the officer late tonight.

The post of ITBP DG has been vacant since January 1 after incumbent chief Subhas Goswami retired on December 31 last year. CRPF DG Prakash Mishra has been holding the additional charge of the ITBP chief since then.

Choudhary will be in office till June 2017.

ITBP, an about 50,000 personnel strong force, is mandated to secure the 3,488km border with China as it is deployed to render a variety of internal security tasks in the country.
