Kolkata: Mohun Bagan officials on Friday made an official announcement about India international Sunil Chhetri donning the green and maroon colours next season.
Bagan officials informed that the deal with Chhetri has been formalised on Friday from Al Ain.
Chhetri, who represented United SC last season, is currently on national duty as the Indian team will take on UAE in a World Cup qualifier Saturday.
"Sunil Chettri signed a one-year contract with Mohun Bagan at the team hotel in UAE. He is looking forward to a great season ahead with the team," the club stated through a release.
Mohun Bagan have already signed India's highest paid striker Odafa Okolie making it a star-studded trio which will be completed by Bagan legend Jose Ramirez Barreto.
The green-and-maroon brigade, who already have Anwar Ali, Surkumar Singh, Rakesh Masih and N Mohanraj in the backline, are yet to finalise their defence.
The Kolkata giants, who had a trophy less lacklustre season in 2010-11 finishing sixth in the I-League, already roped in high profile Steve Darby as the coach.
Darby will join the team on July 25, the same day Mohun Bagan will announce the squad for the upcoming season.
