Margao: Injury-hit Salgaocar SC will have a tough time when they face defending champions Bengaluru FC in their penultimate round of the first leg of the Hero I-League on Sunday.

Salgaocar, who lacked finishing, were expecting that their injured players like Darryl Duffy and Saran Singh would be fit during the 17-day break, but there problems have been compounded as Pawan Kumar, Brian Mascarenhas and Rosario Mendes are doing duty for the Indian U-23 team.

With Darryl Duffy still not fully fit and defender Augustin, who picked up a red card in the last match against Shillong Lajong FC before the break, Salgaocar will have a tough time to content the rival attack comprising of Robin Singh, Sunil Chhetri and Sean Rooney.

Salgaocar's coach Derick Pereira, despite missing several players, is quite positive that his team will put up a good show on Sunday.

"The league is wide open and we are looking to win both our next matches which will place us close to the top three teams. The youngsters are responding well and are all geared up to face Bengaluru FC tomorrow," stated Pereira.

Salgaocar have picked up 11 points from eight matches to place themselves at seventh place.

Bengaluru FC are placed third with 14 points from nine matches.
