How This Agra Duo From A Family Of Daily Wage Labourers Cracked JEE Advance
Shivam explained to the media how they managed to pass the JEE Advanced exam together. According to him, Abhishek and Shivam used to study for 10 hours a day to achieve success.

The JEE Advanced 2024 result was published on June 9. This year, 1,80,200 students appeared for the exam, and 48,248 students qualified. Many candidates qualify for the JEE Advanced exam while facing financial and societal difficulties. Abhishek and Shivam, from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, passed the exam with flying colours after facing such difficulties.

Abhishek Kumar and Shivam Kumar from Agra made their families proud by securing top marks in the JEE Advance exam this year. Abhishek and Shivam are cousins by relation. Their fathers, Rajendra Kumar and Vijendra Kumar work as daily wage labourers. They earn their bread by doing house painting work. Fighting the circumstances, Abhishek secured the 2372nd rank in JEE Advanced. He is the son of Rajendra Kumar. On the other hand, Shivam Kumar, son of Vijendra Kumar, secured the AIR 2989.

Shivam explained to the media how they managed to pass the JEE Advanced exam together. According to him, Abhisked and Shivam used to study for 10 hours a day to achieve success. He also mentioned the struggles of their parents. He shared that their father worked very hard to help them study. Their neighbours used to ask them questions about how the sons of the pointers could become engineers.

Talking about the hardship, the father of Abhishek, Rajendra, expressed, “My brother and I started working as daily wagers when we were teenagers. Now, I manage to earn Rs 600 a day, and so does my brother. We live in a rented house. After my son and nephew get into IITs, we hope to see better days in the future.”

Shivam and Abhishek have a great track record in school as well. Both of them excelled in the board exams. Abhishek obtained 87 per cent in Class X and 89 per cent in Class XII, and Shivam secured 86 per cent in Class XII and 84 per cent in Class X board exams.

When talking about their motto, both the cousins believed in “discipline, dedication, and determination.” to successfully clear the exams. Both of them reflected on their journey and shared, “We used to study together and motivate each other. Despite financial constraints, our parents supported us; they would always keep a tab on how we progressed, which boosted our confidence. We never counted the study hours but prioritized completing assignments and targets set for the day. We focused on doing a lot of revision and solving mock question papers. We dedicate our success to our fathers, who encouraged us to dream big. We assure you that their hard work will not go in vain,”
