A former Pakistan international cricket has made a massive claim that the International Cricket Council has made the groups for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 so that arch-rivals India and Pakistan would take each other on more than once.
Basit Ali who represented Pakistan in both ODIs and Tests had talked about the marquee clash between India and Pakistan on his YouTube channel. In the video, he talked about how the ICC wanted to have more than one game between the two countries and suggested that the groups that have been made cater to that.
“The ICC wants India vs Pakistan to have two matches in the World Cup. They have made the schedule so that the two can meet again either in the semi-final or final. The venue we will get to know in due course,” said the former Pakistan international.

Looking at the two rival sides, Basit suggested that the Indian team are looking good after coming out of the recently concluded Indian Premier League while Pakistan might not be in the best of form ahead of the T20 showpiece event.
“Now, it all depends on performance. Pakistan is a bit low on their form, while India, on the other hand, has played IPL and looks in good shape. For Pakistan to perform well, Babar must open”.
Pakistan recently played England in a four-match T20I series in England where Babar Azam’s side suffered a 0-2 series defeat.
The two sides played the final game ahead of the World Cup at the Kennington Oval in London where England managed to outclass the Pakistan side once again with a win by 7 wickets and 27 balls to spare.

Questions have been asked about Pakistan’s middle-order batting with the star-studded opening pair of Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan not being able to carry on after a good start.
India will meet Pakistan in the Group A fixture on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Both sides will be expected to get past the group stage with ease considering the minnows as the remaining group members like Ireland, USA and Canada.
