Industry heads seek 'cover' from Chinese goods
Industry leaders meet P Chidambaram, urge him to pay heed to the matter.

New Delhi: Industry leaders on Tuesday met Finance Minister P Chidambaram and urged him to take steps to spur industrial growth and to demand added protection from cheap Chinese imports.

The industry representatives from Auto, Engineering and Capital Goods are demanding an anti-dumping duty on cheap Chinese imports.

The auto industry also wants confessional finance on auto sector loans.

A delegation comprising L&T chairman A M Naik, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers director general Dilip Chenoy and Tata Motors managing director Ravi Kant, met Chidambaram and demanded that such a measure was necessary to counter the slowdown in India’s industrial production.
