BSLI has already settled claims of blast victims for an amount of Rs 16.5 Lakh waiving the investigation requirements.

Mumbai: In the aftermath of the recent Mumbai blasts, Birla Sun Life Insurance (BSLI) has geared up to expeditiously settle the claims of next of the kin of the victims who were killed, the company said in a release.

On July 12, the next of the blasts, the company geared up its system for speedy disposal of claims and eased the normal requirements for settlement, the release said.

The company said it had eased its claim norms by asking the claimants to give a written statement and produce a death certificate of the victim issued by municipal authorities or designated district officials of the state government or railway and hospital authorities.

The company said it was foregoing with the requirements for a First Information Report (FIR), post-mortem report, Panchnama and the Police Investigation Report which are required otherwise in Normal Accidental Claim Settlement process.

As of now, BSLI has already settled the two claims that it has received so far of blast victims for an amount of Rs 16.5 Lakh waiving the investigation requirements, the release said.
