Maruti Suzuki, one of the India’s biggest passenger car manufacturer, has registered highest ever sales record in July 2017 with 165,436 units sold, marking 20.6% growth compared to July 2016 with 137,116 units sold. Company’s domestic sales grew by 22.4% YoY to 1.54 lakh units while exports grew by 0.1% to 11,345 units in July. The figures are quiet ahead of market expectations. Maruti Suzuki has a huge market share in the small cars segment and in recent times company has also shifted its focus towards the UV segment. If we look at the whole India car market 7 out of top 10 selling cars of July 2017 are made by Maruti Suzuki.
The compact segment contributed the most to the overall sales with 63,116 units, a growth of 25% as compared to July 2016 with 50,362 units. In this segment, company offers cars like Swift, Dzire and Baleno. The UV segment grew by 48.3% to 25,781 units as compared to 17,382 units in the corresponding month last year. The mini segment comprising of Alto and WagonR also grew 20.7% to 42,201 units in the domestic sales market. The company also sold 6377 units of its mid-size sedan, Ciaz.
