In recent years, divorce rates have been rising globally without clear causes. However, amidst this trend, a sweet story is getting attention where two daughters are happily celebrating their parents’ remarriage, just like the romantic reunion of Lindsay Lohan’s parents in 1998 film, The Parent Trap. Rachel Gaede has been capturing her mom and dad’s journey on social media, which recently culminated with an intimate wedding ceremony. The touching clip shared by Rachel not only features her parents, Julie Shore and Scott Gaede, both aged 54, but also her younger sister, Caroline. In a recent interview, the daughters shared their family’s real life Parent Trap experience and recounted their parents’ decision to remarry a decade after their amicable split.
After initially marrying in 1994, the couple parted ways in 2014 but continued living together under one roof for several years. Following the divorce settlement in 2018, they eventually moved apart. For their remarriage ceremony, the couple chose a familiar face, cousin Cameron, who had previously been the ring bearer at their first wedding, to officiate the ceremony. As per Business Insider, the mother preferred for a familiar face rather than a stranger to conduct the ceremony. In the video, the two daughters were seen happily dancing, later Julie and Scott also joined them, while John Lennon’s rendition of So this is Christmas plays in the background.

Julie Shore shared, “There’s no landmark scandal. Nobody had an affair. It was kind of amicable at first, but then got contentious. We were not friends after that and we both did see other people. We both had other relationships.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple found their way back together. The relationship took a turn when Scott Gaede’s mother passed away in November 2020 and Julie extended her support by being by his side at the hospital. Six months later, when Scott’s father also passed away, it was an emotional period for the family. The events coincided with their daughter’s graduation ceremony. While sitting at the funeral, Julie realised the importance of family above all else.
Following these challenging times, Julie and Scott rekindled their romantic relationship, by going on dates and even took a five day vacation to the Pacific Northwest, to get clarity and resolution, which led to the decision to remarry each other. Interestingly, the entire family relocated to a new home in December. Caroline shared, “They were friends in a way that they never had been. We were doing things that we hadn’t done since I was probably 12 or 13 and it was more fun than it ever was.”
Later, Julie’s mother fell ill, Scott, with his daughter’s help, rushed his proposal plans last Christmas. Taking her former wife’s mother’s blessing, Scott planned for a surprise proposal in downtown Cincinnati and the rest is history.
