There are various stunning islands across the globe, where people love to jet off for holidays. Tourists spend lakhs of rupees to go to such beautiful places. One such group of spectacular islands are calling people and offering free food and stay to those visiting. It is also offering money to visitors. However, you need to fit this one condition before you visit the place. We are talking about the Hebridean islands of Uist and Benbecula. They are located on the west coast of Scotland. In the upcoming summer season, tourists will be flocking over to this place. In view of this, the administration will be offering a lucrative salary to a few professionals as a part of a recruitment process.
As per reports, Uist and Benbecula are offering a whopping £150,000 (Rs 1.5 crore approx) to new doctors to live and work there. The recruitment conducted by NHS Western Isles is looking for doctors who have a sense of adventure and passion for rural medicine. The islands are offering a 40 percent hike (in comparison to urban UK salary). The doctors will be ideally serving the group of six islands in the Outer Hebrides. The health board stated that this job offers an opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful and idyllic locations.
The authorities will offer the new recruits relocation expenses and a “golden hello” of up to £10,000 (Rs 10 lakh). Gordon Jamieson, Chief Executive of NHS Western Isles in an interview with BBC shared that the doctor needs to be the kind of person “who wants that job and responsibility”. Hence, the authorities want to reward them because it is not everyone’s cup of tea.
Consultants, general practitioners and nurses are currently under a lot of pressure due to varied challenges in the rural recruitment process. They are looking for people who want to live in the community for a long time. Reportedly, only outsiders are being given a chance and having work experience in coastal areas will be beneficial. There is also a school in the islands which is currently hiring for the position of principal and teacher.
