A devoted Taylor Swift fan named Bilal Ilyas Jhandir from Pakistan has secured his place in the Guinness World Records by correctly identifying 34 Taylor Swift songs in just one minute. The challenge presented to Bilal involved recognizing Taylor Swift’s top 50 best-selling songs from their lyrics, which were randomly compiled into a list. With no accompanying music, a human read the initial lyrics of each song aloud, putting Bilal’s knowledge and love for Swift’s music to the ultimate test.
Expressing his deep affection for Taylor Swift, Bilal shared with GWR, “I have been listening to Taylor Swift since my childhood. I am a die-hard fan of her. I have listened to each and every song of hers. I can identify almost any song of hers from the lyrics.” His passion for Swift’s music motivated him to attempt this Guinness World Record, considering it the “best way on Earth” to demonstrate his extraordinary love for the artist.
Despite being well-acquainted with Swift’s entire discography, Bilal dedicated 13 weeks to meticulous preparation for the record attempt. His routine involved extensive listening sessions, with the songs becoming so ingrained in his memory that he claimed to recite lyrics aloud even in his sleep.
While Bilal found the task relatively easy due to his thorough preparation, he acknowledged an added layer of difficulty in having the lyrics spoken by a man rather than sung by Taylor Swift herself. Nevertheless, his dedication paid off as he successfully broke the previous record of 27 songs, set by Dan Simpson (UK) in 2019.
This isn’t the first time Bilal has showcased his talent for identifying songs. In the year 2021, he achieved his inaugural Guinness World Records accolade by successfully recognizing the sounds of the highest number of animals within a time span of one minute, which was 23. Last year, he set another record by identifying the most Justin Bieber songs from their lyrics in one minute (29), surpassing the previous record by seven.
Expressing his joy, Bilal stated, “Being called a ‘Certified Swiftie’ or ‘Officially Amazing Swiftie’ is such an incredible feeling.” His devotion to Taylor Swift stands firm, and he considers Folklore his preferred album, describing it as an “absolute masterpiece.”
