Massachusetts Man Wins $1-Million Mega Millions Jackpot After Playing Same Numbers For 20 Years

A man from Massachusetts in the US has struck gold with a $1 million Mega Millions win, thanks to a set of numbers he’s played for 20 years. Thomas Ensko, who picked up his prize on June 12, 2024, at the Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester, received a hefty lump sum of $1,000,000 before taxes. The lucky numbers, inspired by his birthday, finally paid off after two decades of luck. His winning ticket was purchased at Anderson’s Variety Store on 266 Blackstone St in Blackstone, which celebrated its own win with a $10,000 bonus awarded for selling the ticket.

Participation in Mega Millions is available in 45 states, Washington DC and the U.S Virgin Islands, and the draw takes place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 PM ET in Atlanta Georgia.

Winning the lottery is not new to Ensko’s wife, who once won $1 million with an instant ticket over 20 years ago. Now, Ensko plans to share his newfound fortune with his children and grandchildren, ensuring that his $1 million Mega Millions prize will benefit the entire family for years to come.

According to USA Today, only two individuals have claimed the Mega Millions jackpot this year, while hundreds of thousands have won smaller prizes.

In March, one of the players who have been participating in the New Jersey station, hit $1.13 billion. In June, a player from Illinois was able to get lucky and earn $552 million.

The current jackpot is at a projected $800 million. A fortunate player could hit the estimated $404.2 million in lump-sum payment after deduction of taxes if they are lucky to win the current jackpot, the lottery reveals.

Earlier, a man from Michigan failed to win the $610,000 lotto jackpot by only a digit; nevertheless, he managed to celebrate the following day. The 53-year-old man who came very close to winning the Jackpot on July 26 was not to be dissuaded and went back the following day. He won the lotto of his lifetime on July 27 lucking up the $795,905 Fantasy 5 jackpot, which is more than double the previous amount. Lottery authorities from Michigan, later on, affirmed his victory online just less than 24 hours after he had left the place crestfallen.
