We’ve all witnessed people catching a nap inside their cars during travel, but have you ever come across someone dozing off on the rooftop? In a bizarre incident caught on camera, a tourist in Goa has stirred controversy by driving an SUV with two children sleeping on the roof of the vehicle. The viral video, which surfaced on social media on December 27, has ignited a wave of criticism and concerns about the safety of the children involved.

The incident took place on the Parra Coconut Tree road, a popular tourist destination in Goa, according to the report by the Free Press Journal.

The video begins with a moving SUV, the rooftop serving as an unconventional resting place for two children. A concerned man approaches the driver, questioning the decision to let the children sleep on top of the car while it is in motion. The driver responds by claiming that he is taking a reverse turn.

As the video circulated online, it remains unclear whether the driver eventually brought the children inside the vehicle or stopped the SUV. Additionally, there have been no reports of any official complaints filed in connection with the viral video.

The video has sparked outrage among social media users, with many expressing their dismay over the apparent disregard for the safety of the children. A retired IPS officer, commented on the laissez-faire attitude some tourists seem to adopt in Goa, saying, “Somehow several tourists (Indians as well as foreigners) coming to Goa have this wrong impression that everything is allowed in Goa. This laissez-faire attitude has to be corrected by continuous strict enforcement and awareness drives.”

Users criticised the parents for their apparent carelessness, stating that while Goa is a place for relaxation, there should be a limit to casual behaviour, especially when it endangers lives. Concerns were raised about the impact such actions could have on the children, both in terms of physical safety and the message it sends about responsible behaviour.

Reflecting on the casual approach displayed in the video, a person questioned whether individuals would behave similarly in their own hometowns, suggesting that such actions were unacceptable, regardless of the location.

The comments section predominantly focused on condemning the individual’s irresponsible actions.
