It’s always a great feeling to bump into an age-old friend after years. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had a similar experience recently after he met his friend from the Delhi University at the Republic Summit 2024. Walking down the memory lane, the duo talked about how they used to travel on the University Special bus.
A video of the sweet moment was shared by Puri who was ‘pleasantly surprised’ with the event. The longtime friends were also seen sharing a hug. Hardeep Singh Puri currently serves as the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs.
The video starts with the minister saying, “I know you. We used to travel on that special from university.” The two then joked about their age and Puri expressed his happiness of meeting her after ages. He even enquired about another common friend Anita who apparently lives in Kuwait.
“As I was stepping out after my session at the #RepublicSummit2024 I was pleasantly surprised to meet my old friend from DU Smt Raj Dutta Ji. We took a little stroll down memory lane & spoke about how we used to be a part of the group travelling on the University Special bus more than five decades ago!” Hardeep Singh Puri wrote in the caption.

Social media users were delighted to witness such a union. A user said, “Sir, you remembered her and the moments too.. Lovely.” Another mentioned, “50 years ago did they have University bus playing? That is so nice to hear and watch the reunion of old pals.”
One of the individuals chimed in, “These are precious encounters. So amazing!” while another comment read, “More good health to all elders.”
The old friend whom Puri enquired about also seemed to have made her presence in the comment box. She wrote, “Hi Hardeep. It was great seeing you on the reel… I am seeing Raj after 5 decades! Pls share her contact with me so we can finally meet after these 50 long years. It is always great to see you and hear about all the fantastic things you are doing for our country. Best wishes. Anita.”
