In a remarkable display of bravery two years ago, a man garnered headlines for his heroic act of jumping under a moving train in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, to save a girl who had accidentally fallen onto the tracks. Recently, another incident involving a man going under a moving train has captured widespread attention. However, the motive behind this act is quite perplexing.
A viral video depicts the man cautiously sliding under the moving train at Bhopal Railway Station, not to save a life, but to retrieve a pair of slippers that had fallen onto the tracks while he was boarding the train. The train was on the brink of leaving the platform when the man decided to risk his life for a pair of slippers valued at barely Rs 100. The dangerous act, caught on video and shared by Instagram user Tour With Tejasv, has left viewers shocked, with many expressing their anger in the comments section.
As people voiced their disapproval of the man’s actions, one user commented, “He was lucky he survived,” while another stated, “Chappal is more important than life.” A third person frustratedly remarked, “No matter how much you improve in the country, you fools cannot improve.”
This incident is not the first time that safety rules have been disregarded, setting a wrong example for others. A few months ago, another video surfaced, capturing attention on the internet. In this footage, a man is seen standing on the footboard despite an empty coach. To add to the recklessness, he balances himself with just one hand and swings from side to side using the other.

Addressing such safety concerns, RailwaySeva acknowledged the issue and redirected it to the Central Railway RPF, emphasising the need for awareness and corrective measures to prevent similar risky behaviours in the future. These incidents highlight the importance of promoting responsible behaviour and adhering to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of individuals in and around railway premises.
