Initially, a 20-month ban was recommended but a committee took into consideration the fact that Noor Ahmad was a minor at the time of signing the Player Agreement.

Young Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad has been banned by the International League T20 for 12 months. Noor was found guilty of breaching his Player Agreement with Sharjah Warriors who had signed him for Season 1 of the tournament.

Noor, 19, was offered a year’s extension by Sharjah Warriors but he refused to sign the retention notice for the season that concluded last week.

“Noor played for Sharjah Warriors in Season 1 of the ILT20 (January-February 2023) who sent him a retention notice on the same terms and conditions in accordance with the Player Agreement terms ahead of Season 2,” ILT20 said in statement on Tuesday.

After Noor refused to sign the extension, Sharjah Warriors approached the ILT20 to intervene into the matter.

A three-member Disciplinary Committee investigated the matter.

The committee comprised ILT20 Chief Executive Officer David White, Head of Security and Anti-Corruption Col. Azam and Member Emirates Cricket Board Zayed Abbas.

They held separate hearings for the both the parties and on examining the evidence before them, recommended a 12-month ban on Noor.

The committee had initially recommended a 20-month ban but took into consideration the fact that Noor was a minor at the time of signing the Player Agreement. Additionally, he told the committee his agent did not informed him of the full terms of contract and as such eight months were taken off from his original ban.
